Calgarian Spencer Jo Burgess is a musical provocateur. With his self-described urban folk music, Spencer Jo searches for truth: beautiful, ugly, and uncomfortable. Though he is not yet 30, Spencer Jo’s musical maturity belies his age. Spencer Jo has shared his music with listeners as far as Marrakech, and to the Canadian coasts and in-between. The Kitchen Chorus Songbook, which Spencer Jo released in November 2011, spent 2 weeks at the top of CJSW’s Folk Charts and exemplified his musical persona of punk roots with folk sensibilities.
