Barry Luft

Barry Luft has given Alberta folk music his voice for more than fifty years. Distinguished by his extensive knowledge of folk history, colourful repertoire, and passion for music, Barry is an esteemed member of Alberta’s folk music community. Barry’s musical education began early, and he learned to play the harmonica at age five by his dad. Despite never learning to read music, Barry’s playing developed a style that displays a mastery of skill. Of the many instruments that Barry plays, the five-string banjo is his trademark. Apart from performing and recording, Barry is involved with music as an educator, song leader, and instrument instructor.
